My project about the Cuban queer community explores gender fluidity in a country of contrasts and contradictions, where the queer community is emerging as one of the many thriving and dynamic aspects of the new cultural landscape.

“S/HE” won the juror’s choice at the KLPA International Portrait Photography Prize. Sarah Choo Jing said “Through his lens, Bugani sheds light on the often-overlooked struggles of communities where societal norms have historically marginalized. This photograph is more than an image; it is a statement of hope and progress. “Fulvio’s work is a testament to the power of art to challenge, inspire, and foster empathy and change.”
